A long lasting, beautiful gravel track that will be practically maintenance free. An effective long term investment in the Queen Domain track project.
Project: Multi-use track at Queen Domain, Hobart
Date: October 2016
Collaboration with Hobart City Council and DirtArt.
Summary
- A newly constructed gravel track, part of a larger tracks project at the Queens Domain in Hobart.
- Section of track is 80 metres long and downhill.
- Issue: With traditional gravel and compaction techniques, this downhill section of track would likely require maintenance after heavy rain events.
- Issue: The stability of the track surface would likely be compromised as mountain bikes descend the track, braking hard.
- Solution: Council commissioned a surface treatment of DirtGlue® Industrial.
Outcomes
- Gravel surface is glued together, locked-in, sealed.
- Safer surface for pedestrians and bikes.
- Gravel finish in keeping with the natural bush environment.
- Long lasting, practically maintenance free gravel track, cost effective.
- Water drains off the surface.
- Prevents loose gravel washing into drains and causing major blockages in underground drainage system.
- Track accessible to pedestrians less that three hours after the DirtGlue® was applied.
